THE OVERCOMER

Galatians 5:16 - ”This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh”.

Immediately a sinner becomes saved, God plants the seed of victory in him. This seed of victory soon grows and becomes a tree of righteousness. A Christian is an overcomer. He is given power to overcome sin, Satan and the flesh.

Additionally, he also overcomes the entire gamut of the circumstances of life. The power that imbues the Christian with victory is the Spirit of God. The moment you become born again, the Spirit of God comes upon you. This is the Spirit that created Adam. I John 4:4 says, “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” How can you assert that the One in you is greater than the one in the world? It is by becoming an overcomer.

There would be a fierce battle. Everyday, the devil fights for your soul. He wants to rid your life of the glory of God. The devil knows that when you become born again, you become more powerful than Adam was and he wants to get you. He wants you on his side. He would use all kinds of measures to lure you into his side so as to use the name of Jesus in a negative way. He would offer you power, fame and glory. You must struggle to remain an overcomer. You must be on the side of Jesus Christ. The battle will be fierce. Sin would pursue you. The people of the world would want to pull you down. They would offer you their power. Please reject their offers. I John 3:8-9 says, “He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.” To remain an overcomer, you have to overcome the flesh. You have to walk in the Spirit. You have to live a holy life. Do you want to overcome? Ask God to make you an overcomer.
