SEE HOW GOD SPEAKS TO HIS PEOPLE

An issue that disturbs many Christians is how can they know God’s will for marriage. How does God speak to his people? There are several ways. He can speak directly – you hear his voice distinctly. In Acts 9:9-20, the Lord asked Ananias to go to a particular street called ‘straight’ and ask at the house of Judas for one Saul of Tarsus, who was praying. This shows that God knows your name, address, your birthplace and other details about you. So God can tell you all the details about your spouse long before you meet her, such as her address, height, size of shoe, name and complexion.
When God has supplied details of your spouse, you can note them down. As brothers begin to approach you, check their details and see I there is any match. Keep to what God has shown you. Another way God can lead you is by speaking the information you need into your heart. This will be in the form of the still, small voice to speak to Elijah. Also, the Lord will confirm it in order to assure you. In Acts 13:1- 3, we read that after God had spoken to Paul and Barnabas concerning a task he wanted them to do, he confirmed it before others.

God also leads his children through dreams and visions. For instance in Matthew 2:13, 19-20, God warned Joseph of Herod’s plot to kill baby Jesus and told him to escape to Egypt; and when Herod died, he told Joseph to return to Galilee. God can show you your spouse through dreams and visions. But be careful to subject such dreams to rigorous prayers for confirmation or cancellation, because Satan easily manipulates the use of such media. God could also give you Scriptures to ascertain whether a brother is his choice for you or not. These may drop into your spirit while praying. If the Scripture is not clear to you, ask for understanding. In addition, you will have an inner, inexplicable peace when you meet with your spouse. James 3:17 says the wisdom of God is peaceful. The Lord will have to confirm his choice to both of you so that you can agree to enter into marriage (Amos 3:3). The Lord will guide your steps aright to the place he has planned for you.

How does God lead and guide you? Take such avenues more seriously in order to maximize your spiritual profit.

‘But the path of the just is as the shinning light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day’. (Prov 4:18)
