FIGHTING STRONGER OPPONENTS

‘For great is thy mercy toward me: and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell.’ (Ps 86: 13)

READ: 2 Kings 13: 14 – 17Deliverance has been viewed through a myopic prism. It is so much broader and larger than people see it. Simply defined, deliverance is the act of rescuing someone from a fight he or she cannot win. The one who rescues becomes the deliverer.

In Daniel 6, Daniel was thrown into the lion’s den to contend with those fierce and hungry lions. In order words, he was positioned without choice to fight a battle he could never have won. It took God to come down and carry out a rescue mission to give him the victory.

A fight against fire is another impossible task. Daniel’s friends, after defying Nebuchadnezzar and his golden idol, were made to fight the fiery furnace. The Son of God had to come to their rescue. Are you fighting a battle you cannot win in your own strength? He who helps and delivers us is near. The Lord of Hosts will deliver you in Jesus’ Name.

Deliverance is serious warfare. Ephesians 6: 11-12 reveals the enemy we fight in the battle for deliverance. The deliverer must therefore be a warrior. To defeat an opponent, you must be stronger than him. To bind a strong man, you must be stronger than him (Matt 12: 29). None of us is a match for the devil and his agents. They can defeat us in seconds. But thank God, Jesus Christ is stronger than the strong man. He is the Universal Champion, the Ultimate Deliverer.

Psalm 24: 9-10 says he is strong and mighty in battle. He can kill and make alive and nobody can deliver anyone from his hand (Deut 32: 39). He can deliver you from both seen and unseen forces, every danger and all evil. He will deliver you from the wolf in sheep’s clothing. He will set you free from everything aimed to enslave you. He will even deliver you from yourself (your flesh). When you allow him to have his way in your life, every demon and kingdom of darkness will bow to you. They are under your feet and you will rule over them. Have you completely surrendered to the Lordship of Jesus Christ?

Declare that Jesus in you is greater than all your seen
And unseen enemies; therefore, you shall not be moved.
