Men and women traverse land and seas, combing the nooks and crannies of the country in search of protection and security. What they are looking for in wrong places is offered free of charge by God.
God is our city of
refuge. He is our anchor on the stormy sea of life. Because God owns us, He
would protect us from any attack. We are shown how He protects His own in Psalm
27:1 and 5, “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD
is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? For in the time of
trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall
he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.” God will hide you in His secret
place during the time of trouble. He has other ways in which He can protect us.
These are found in Psalm 91:9-13, “Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my
refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; there shall no evil befall thee,
neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels
charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear you up in their
hands, lest thou dash they foot against a stone. "Thou shalt tread upon
the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under
feet.”
One of the ways that
God protects His own from evil in by giving orders to His angels to take care
of them. When Daniel was thrown into the lions’ den and the king came the
following morning and cried unto Daniel to know whether his God had, in fact,
protected him, is answer is recorded in Daniel 6:21-22, “Then said Daniel unto
the king, O king live for ever. My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the
lion’s mouths, that they have not hurt me forasmuch as before him innocence was
found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.” If the mouth
of the lions that are against you are not shut, the angel assigned to you will
get a query. There is the story of Peter in Acts 12:5-11. He was put in prison
to be killed the following day. The children of God were praying and, all of a
sudden, an angel came into the prison house to free him. God sent the guards to
sleep. When the day of your deliverance comes, your enemy will fall asleep.
Peter did not have the keys to the prison house, yet he was brought out. When
God is with you, all locked doors will begin to open.
Psalm 91:2 - “I will
say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress; my God; in him will I trust.
